"When you hold things in your hand without fully engaging the fourth and fifth fingers, you lose the stabilizing connection between the hands, shoulder blades, and spine. Lacking this connection we stabilize more with the upper trapezius. (And we never see that posture😀) 👉 ***Try this experiment. Take your left hand and grip your right wrist. Gently squeeze your wrist with emphasis on your last two digits (pinky and ring finger). Where do you feel the tension radiate in the torso? Be mindful. Underneath the scapula? ➡ Now squeeze the wrist with more emphasis on your thumb and forefingers. Where do you feel tension in your torso? The neck and trap? Switch hands and repeat. Be mindful of where you squeeze from. It radiates all the way up and in. Unleash massive shoulder stability and power when you use those outer fingers more efficiently. Try it with your next pull-up!! Big difference."
I'm going to play with other ways this might help in class/life.
